California Bucket List

Three months and counting until the Bytheway family begins our California Summer Adventure!  Aaron was offered a chemical engineering internship with Valero so we'll be out in Benicia (near San Francisco) for four months.  I'm not sure if it's the cold, smoggy weather or my obsessive compulsive need to plan everything out three months in advance, but I keep day dreaming about California today and all the things I want to do while we're out there so I made a bucket list.

  • Go to the beach.  All the time.
  • Take a tour of Alcatraz.  I did when I went to San Francisco in high school and it was one of my favorite things.
  • Go to a Giants game.
  • Visit Ghirardelli Square.  Free chocolate?  Umm, yes please.
  • Take Hannah to the San Francisco Zoo.
  • Attend the Oakland Temple.
  • Go for a walk/hike in Muir Woods.
  • Go to Six Flags.  We'll be living about five minutes away, so I think we'll get season passes.
  • Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Spend as much time as possible with Ben and Alicia.
  • Visit China Town.
  • Eat some chowder at Pier 49.
Any other ideas?

  2. So excited for you! San Francisco is so much fun. We went there on our honeymoon and several time after when we visit family.

We love Golden Gate Park! The Japanese Tea Garden is awesome and the Conservatory of Flowers is fun too. It's also fun just to walk around the park, it's huge! There are ponds, squirrels, trails, flowers, windmills, fly fishing areas, etc.

Also Coit Tower gives great views of the city. Some touristy things are Fisherman's Warf where you'll see the sea lions, the Transamerica building, the cable cars, and Lombard street. We also had fun at the Exploratorium and the Palace of Fine Arts.

This list is getting long. Let's talk restaurants at the next book club before you go!
